FoodLabs is an early-stage venture capital fund and venture studio rooted in Europe, with a growing international presence. We partner with founders to turn scientific breakthroughs into industrially viable companies that contribute to a more resilient, secure, and healthy food system.
Founded in 2016, we have supported more than 90 early-stage ventures, investing across the full food value chain - from molecule to market. We combine early-stage capital with hands-on operational support across Product, People, and Commercial Growth.
We are looking for a Finance Manager to join our Core Team in Berlin Mitte - someone who wants to help shape our VC finance strategy and drive the continuous improvement of our internal finance processes.
YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
You collaborate closely with our external accountants, tax advisors, and service providers, managing the preparation and review of financial statements for various FoodLabs group entities - ensuring integrity, accuracy, and timelines at all times.
You handle preparatory accounting, payment transactions, legal housekeeping, tax filings, and annual results for several group entities.
You manage liquidity planning, day-to-day invoicing, and capital calls across our funds and affiliated companies - covering everything from office expenses to the completion of investment transactions.
You support our external payroll provider and independently take ownership of special projects across a variety of topics.
You actively drive the development and further professionalization of our finance and administration frameworks - bringing structure and scalability to our processes.
You contribute to ESG and impact reporting initiatives, and support KYC and legal compliance processes across the portfolio.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
You have successfully completed your apprenticeship or studies with a focus on Finance, Accounting or Taxation
Ideally, you have proven yourself in a complex holding environment or an audit company, and have first relevant work experience in i.e. fund administration, auditing, taxation and general finance
Specific knowledge in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Startups, or related fields would be beneficial
Your work style is independent, structured, and accurate, which helps you to always stay on top of the game
With your builder’s mindset, you are efficient, reliable, and adaptable to change when stressful deadlines such as our quarterly reporting close in on you
You have a strong work ethic and your great analytical skills are paired with a hands-on mentality. You can always rely on your Excel acrobatics
You are proficient in both German and English
You are curious by nature and you thrive in a demanding, yet informal startup environment with rapidly growing businesses surrounding you
No matter the field, you have proven yourself in the past and can clearly show why you will be successful in the future
Familiarity with Legal/KYC processes or ESG & Impact reporting is a plus.
